James Moore enlisted 5 Jun 1861 in the Confederate Army in Mt Airy Surry County North Carolina. He was in the North Carolina 21st Reg Co I, which was known as the Surry Marksmen.

His Regiment fought in many battles the last battle was at Appomattox Court House Virginia On Apr 9,1865 ...it appears he may have been wounded in this battle and passed away one week later on Apr 15 1865 the same day President Lincoln was assassinated.
