Pvt. Lujan survived the torpedoing & sinking of the troopship "Tuscania" on 5 February 1918 in the North Channel between Scotland & Ireland by German submarine UB-77. His surname was spelled Lugan on the "Tuscania" passenger list, and on his return voyage aboard "Imperator" in August 1919. Pedro returned as a corporal in QMC Salvage Co. #10. Texas military records indicate he was born in San Antonio, Mexico, although some records indicate a birth in Texas.
