E. B. Thomason, 90, Dies Here, Was Former Member of House

Edwin B. Thomason, 90, retired Richmond attorney and former member of the House of Delegates from the city, died Saturday at his home, 1907 Stuart Ave.

A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday at St. Paul Episcopal Church, where Mr. Thompson was active for many years. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.

Born in Brunswick County, he was the son of the late Mrs. Mary Eugenia Saunders Thomason and James Douglas Thomason, who was killed in the Battle of Gettysburg.

He is survived by five daughters, Misses Emily S. Thomason, Florine N., M. Eugenia and Luly Thomason, all of Richmond, and Mrs. Alfred B. Tyler, of Charles City County.

Mr. Thomason was educated at the University of Virginia and studied law at Inns of Court, England. He became a member of the British bar and was an attorney for the East India Company from 1882 to 1888.

Returning to this country, he practiced law in Richmond, becoming president of the Richmond Bar Association, a member of the Board of Aldermen from 1900 to 1903, and a delegate to the General Assembly in 1904-06.

In his practice of law, he was formally associated with the late Raleigh B. Minor, later a professor at the University of Virginia, and with John B. Minor. His other activities included the post of vestryman at St. Paul's for many years, and superintendent of the Sunday school. He was also treasurer of the Richmond Council of Boy Scouts of America for a number of years.
