Albert Winfield Harris was the son of Joshua Nunn Harris and Nancy Elizabeth [Bolling] Harris. His Parents had first lived in Indiana and Illinois, much later in Missouri and Kansas. Albert grew up in the Tippecanoe & Carroll Counties area of Indiana, where he was first a Farm Worker and learned the Carpenter trade and the Millwright trades. As a young man, Albert worked his trades as a Journeyman for several years, eventually becoming a Contractor, building many grain elevators and mills in Indiana and Illinois. Albert married Mary Elizabeth Temple in Carroll County, Indiana 30 September 1877. They lived in Adams Township, by Lockport for 27 years. In 1904, they moved to Oxford, Benton County, Indiana, where they lived for 14 years. In 1918, they moved to what is now West Lafayette, Indiana, near the Soldiers Home, about 3 miles from Battle Ground, Indiana. After the death of his wife Mary, in 1928, Albert went to live at the home of his daughter, Alta [Harris] Acheson and her family, until she and her family moved to South Bend. He then lived with his Granddaughter, Florence (Gornall) Leuck and her family at Ambia. In the final year of his life, he returned to Lafayette where he was cared for by his Granddaughter Dora (Harris) Perry until his death at Lafayette.
