Oliver Crane, 90, of Wheeler, died December 2 in his home.

The son of Jesse and Patricia (Beard) Crane, he was born August 26, 1900 in the Rock Creek Community in South Dakota. He lived in South Dakota until he was 20 years old. He then moved with his father and stepmother to Wisconsin where he met Hazel Burch. They were married on October 26, 1921 at Cushing. He was a minister in the Church of the Nazarene and pastored for 60 years in Taylor Falls, Minnesota, Balsam Lake and Clam Falls. He then moved to Wheeler where he has lived the past 51 years, retiring on his 90th birthday this past August. His wife Hazel preceded him in death on November 30, 1974. He later married Ruth (Mishler) Nelson on April 9, 1977. She also preceded him in death on January 19, 1981.

Besides his two wives he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters, on grandson, and two great grandsons.

He is survived by two sons, Myron (Betty) Crane of Wheeler and Curtis Crane of Chetek; three daughters, Marvel (Keith) Simmons of Freeport, Illinois, Joyce (Wayne) Tryggestad of Sterling, Illinois, and Patricia C. Crane of Wheeler, two stepchildren, Sara (Cliff) Roettger of Cameron, Illinois and Larry (Jill) Randel of Luck; one brother, Delbert (Fern) Crane of Pine City, Minnesota, three stepsisters, Inez Hassell of Renville, Minnesota, Alice (Don) Alexander of Wilmar, Minnesota, and Ellen (Harold) Lindemeir of Glencoe, Minnesota; and 17 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.

Services will be at 2pm on Thursday, December 6th at Grace United Methodist Church in Wheeler, Rev. Steven Crites officiating, with interment in Hay River Cemetery, Hay River.

Visitation will be held today from 4 to 9pm, Thursday from 9 to 11 am and one hour before the church service.

Arrangements were by the Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie.
