Serena Bond was born October 12, 1844 in Tennessee, and died February 21, 1928 at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 9 days. She was united in marriage to Elder Leonard Bond in 1862. To this happy union eight children were born. Her beloved husband and two children preceded her in death. Mrs. Bond came to Hamilton county, when about 6 years old and spent all her life, with the exception of about two years she lived in Texas, in Hamilton County.
Mrs. Bond was a devoted mother and friend, giving her life to her home and church. She was never too tired to go another mile, a twain mile mother. Her devoted husband was a Missionary Baptist preacher and with him she shared her life in the ministry. Her husband was for many years an active pastor, holding many churches in this part of the State. They lived a very happy life together. Mrs. Bond united with the church in early life, joining the Blooming Grove Baptist church and was its oldest member at the time of her departure. She loved her church and was a devoted member all her life. Her only worry was that she was afraid she wouldn't be buried in Blooming Grove where she could rest her tired body within the shadows of the church, where she loved to worship when able to attend.
