Orlan E. Zutz, age 82, of 940 North 10th Street, Manitowoc, entered eternal life Monday afternoon, July 16, 2012 at the family residence.

Orlan was born August 31, 1929 in New Holstein, WI. He was the son of the late William and Lorina Nass Zutz. Orlan was a graduate of Valders High School with the class of 1947. He then entered the United States Navy from 1947 until his honorable discharge in 1952. After returning from the military he became employed as a sheet metal journeyman for many years and retired from Lakeside Machine in 1991. On December 4, 1954 he married LaVerne Zietlow in Valders, WI. Orlan was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church and the American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88. Orlan loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed bowling and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years LaVerne; three children: Patti (Michael) Reilly, Manitowoc; Gregory Zutz, Manitowoc; Kerri (Don) Popp, Manitowoc; five grandchildren: Meghann (Aaron) Voegeli, Taylor Brice; Parker Popp, Peyton Popp, and Kasey Reilly; two brothers: Aubrey (Gladys) Zutz, St. Nazianz, WI; William (Elaine) Zutz, Valders; two sisters: Anna Belle Ebenhoe, Manitowoc; Lorraine (Wally) Stenzel, Valders; one brother-in-law: Kenneth (Karen) Zietlow, Manitowoc; one sister-in-law: Carol Maaske, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Lorina Zutz; one brother: Teddy Zutz; one sister and brother-in-law: Marlene and Luther Cook; one brother-in-law: Thomas Ebenhoe.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home in Manitowoc. Officiating will be Rev. Roald Harswick with entombment to take place at Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00. Military rites will be accorded at the funeral home by the American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88 immediately following the funeral services. Following the military rites family and friends will gather for a luncheon at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.
