Her first two marriages ended due to the death of her husbands from consumption(TB) and her third marriage appears to have ended by separation or divorce. Her last husband appears to have been a very bad stepfather. After this marriage ended, she went back to using the name of her second husband..

(Family tradion is that all of the above children died young.)
She was a midwife according to the 1880 census. In 1900 she was living or staying with her granddaughter, Nellie M. Clark Anderson, in Tuscumbia, AL, a few months after the granddaughter's triplets were born. Dr Palmer, the husband's cousin, was there for delivery, but Marcella may have helped take care of the two surviving after they were born.
