John was born 18 Oct 1879 son of Steven & Ellen Bertler. He attended St. Boniface School & North Side H.S. Manitowoc. After graduation, he joined his father & two brothers in the operation of S. Bertler & Sons Brick Mfg. Co, retiring in 1950. He was married to Emily 8 May 1901, at Manitowoc. He was a avid basefall fan & played with the Manitowoc City Team from 1896-1907. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He had dtrs Helene Bertler (John) Musiel, Eleanor Bertler (Farris) Keinzler, and son Paul who predeceased his father.

John A. Bertler, 93, of 820 N. Sixth St., Manitowoc, died Saturday
morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Urbanek and Schlei
Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc.
The Rev. Charles Mocco will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Bertler was born Oct. 18, 1879, at Manitowoc, son of the late Steven
and Ellen Bertler. He attended St. Boniface School and North Side High
School, Manitowoc. After graduation, he joined his father and two brothers
in the operation of S. Bertler & Sons Brick Mfg. Co., retiring in 1950.
He married Emily Drause May 8, 1901, at Manitowoc. He was an avid baseball
fan and played with the Manitowoc City Team from 1896 to 1907. His wife
preceded him in death in October of 1953. He was a member of Sacred Heart
Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Farris (Eleanore) Kienzler and Mrs.
John (Helene) Musiel, of Manitowoc; nieces and nephews. Two brothers and
a sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home, State Street entrance, from 6 to
9 o'clock this Monday evening, where memorial services will be at
8 o'clock.
