George A. Bertler, 77, of 1005 N. Ninth St., Manitowoc, died at 11:35 p.m.
Sunday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where he had been taken
Sunday afternoon.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home,
Manitowoc, and at 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, the Rev.
E. A. Radey will be celebrant of the soemn requiem High Mass. Burial will
be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Bertler was born Dec. 31, 1884, at Manitowoc, son of the late Stephen
and Helen Guidinger Bertler and resided in the city all his life. He attended
St. Boniface Catholic School. He married Johannah Engeldinger on Aug. 5,
1908, at Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on Oct. 17, 1932. He
married the former Mrs. Theresa Feil on July 10, 1950, at Manitowoc.
Prior to his retirement in 1950 he was a partner in the S. Bertler Sons Brick
Manufacturing Co. a pioneer firm in this field in Manitowoc. He was a
member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Miss Frances Bertler and Mrs.
Jack Cannon of Manitowoc and Mrs. Arthur Gruber of Green Bay, a step-daughter,
Mrs. Ludwig Schutz of Rockford, Ill.; five sons, Walter, Ray and Dr. Eugene F.
Bertler all of Manitowoc, Ralph of Rt. 1, Two Rivers and Donald of Millersburg, Ohio; a step-son, Rudolph Feil of Rockford, Ill., a brother, John, of Manitowoc and 28 grandchildren. Three sons, a daughter, a brother and a sister also preceded him in death.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. by the Daughters of Isabella and Knights of Columbus.
