PEORIA HEIGHTS - Opal M. Hegger, 90, of Peoria Heights died at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born May 25, 1915, to Earl and Bertha (Hall) Apperson. She married George Hegger. He died Aug. 19, 1943. She then married Robert Hegger on Feb. 7, 1944, in Hardin, Ill. He died July 7, 1987.

Surviving are two daughters, Jacqueline Keene of Pinckneyville and Dian (Jim) Steeg of Chillicothe; one son, Timothy Hegger of Jacksonville, Ill.; one sister, Juanita Smith of Peoria Heights; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. Monsignor William Watson will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Endsley Funeral Home in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.

Opal was a member of the Topps Club.

She enjoyed sewing and crafts. She loved to cook and shop.

Memorials may be made to Jacksonville Developmental Center in Jacksonville, Ill.
