THE EVENING HERALD, SYRACUSE, NY, MONDAY, MAY 1901.

Hiram Moorehouse, a well known retired business man of this city, died yesterday at his home in the First ward, at the advanced age of 80 years. For more than sixty years he had lived in this city. He was born at Delphi on May 28 1821, and when a young man came to Syracuse. For a number of years he conducted a bakery and confectionary business in a store on the site of the present Dillaye building in South Salina street. I In the interest of his business, he traveled extensively throughout the State, and thus formed a wide acquaintance. Mr. Morehouse was a Republican in politics, and from the Organization of the party never failed to vote for the Presidential candidate until last year, when he was unable to go to the polls. Mr. Morehouse was a consistent member of the First Ward M. E. church. He is survived by a widow and six children. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at the home of his son Hiram M. Morehouse. No. 414 Court street. The Rev. A. W. Green will officiate, and burial will be made in Oakwood cemetery.
