Jay Chapel Funeral Home - Dec. 26, 2014
Bonnie Gene Martin passed away peacefully at the age of 100 years surrounded by her family on Saturday December 27, 2014 at St. Agnes Medical Center. Bonnie was born in Rolinda California in 1914, one of four children born to Edwin Govett (originally from England) and his wife Ella. Bonnie attended the then rural Central Union High School graduating with the Class of 1932.
Bonnie later married Kenneth Leroy Martin in 1935 sharing 49 years of marriage until his passing in 1984.
Bonnie and Kenneth moved to Madera in 1945 when Kenneth and his brother formed Martin Brothers Pump Company. They were active members of the Madera Community during the 1950’s and 1960’s and in particular The Madera United Methodist Church during the building of the current church complex on Sunset Avenue. Bonnie was committed to her Christian Faith and her family. A Godly woman, her walk with the Lord was evident throughout her life. She maintained friendships with a close group of friends from her church family up until her passing. In 1968 Bonnie returned to Fresno where she made her home most recently at Sunrise Living. She was a long-time member of the former St. Luke’s United Methodist Church of Fresno. Bonnie’s proudest achievement was that of mother to her 3 children. The endeavors of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren always filled her with a great sense of pride and brought a beaming smile to her face.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Larry Martin and his wife Maxine of Camarillo, CA, Jim K. Martin and his wife Jeannette of Fresno and Janice Rau and her husband Steve also of Fresno.
