Janie Harris Carre' Sanders Dale died peacefully at her home in Greenwood, MS, Friday, April 6, 2012, at the age of 93. She was born in New Orleans, LA, on October 10, 1918, the daughter of the late Tudor Beach & Janie Harris Carre'. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Stansbury "Stanny" Sanders, her husband, Madison Sylvester Dale Sr., a daughter Margaret Viola "Peggy" Sanders Sparkman, and a sister, Margaret Carre. Mrs. Dale graduated from Sophie Wright High School in New Orleans & attended Sophie Newcomb College. She then completed business school and, during WWII, was secretary to the Commanding Officer of the 5th Naval District in New Orleans. Mrs. Dale spent her early married life in Indianola, MS, moving to Greenwood in 1957. She was active in many civic & social organizations, but her greatest love & service was for the First United Methodist Church of Greenwood. At age 92, Mrs. Dale and her cousin, Beach Carre' published a book "Yours Very Truly," a collection of letters written by her father & his brothers during the Depression. Mrs. Dale relished loving & being loved by five generations of family and friends.

She is survived by her children: Penny Sanders Varner (Mack)of Vicksburg, Mary Sanders Hughes, (Bobby)of St. Louis, MO, and her Dale sons: Matt Dale Jr., of Glendora, MS, Jimmy Dale of Jackson, MS, and Danny Dale (Charlotte) of Glendora. Mrs. Dale is also survived by her seven Sanders granddaughters: Betsy Varner McIntire (Troy)of Hattiesburg, MS, Emily Varner Shelton (David)of Oxford, MS, Mary Margaret Sparkman (Jay Fraiser)of Atlanta, GA, Sally Sparkman Rabinowitz (Jason) & Janie Sparkman, of Pensacola, FL, Margo Hughes & Julie Hughes of St. Louis, MO, and six Dale grandchildren: Ellen O'Neal (Kenny) and Kathryn Roland (Sessions) of Madison, MS, Mary Dabney Goldbeck (Mark) of Louisville, MS, James Dale of Starkville, MS, Daniel Dale of Glendora and Wood Dale of Oxford, MS, twenty six great grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Capt. Viola Brown Sanders of Greenwood, MS. The family thanks Ms. Louise McClendon for her loyal loving care of Mrs. Dale. Services for Mrs. Dale were at 2PM, Mon., April, 2012 at First United Methodist Church, in Greenwood, with visitation from noon to 2PM in the Russell Annex, Rev .Glenn Seefeld officiating. Pallbearers were sons Matt Dale Jr., Jimmy Dale, Danny Dale, and grandsons Daniel Dale, Wood Dale, and James Dale. Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Amelung, Billy Cook, Dr. Henry Flautt Jr., Loys Gray, Danny Hardin, Jimmy Hughes Sr., Billy Leflore, W.G. Mize, Ralph Neely, Ricki Roberston, and Melvin Self.
