(Picture in obit)
A churchly career which began nearly half a century ago came to an end Tuesday at 5 PM when the Rev. Arthur Bates Hightshoe, 80-year-old retired Methodist Episcopal Church Minister, died at his home, 218 E. Woodland Ave. Since 1932 the Rev. Mr. Hightshoe had been retired. Prior to his retirement, however, he had severed 12 years as executive secretary the Iowa conference claimants fund. The veteran minister had no recent illness. Death came suddenly as the result of a heart ailment. The Rev. Mr. Hightshoe’s career in the Methodist Episcopal Church broadened into the work in the state field following many years in southeastern Iowa pastorates. He entered the ministry in 1859, at Springfield, Missouri, Normal School.
