Lola was born in Personville, Texas, to the late Arthur Everett and Lola Inez McClaran Ferguson. She was a graduate of Fair Oaks High School and remained in Limestone County her entire life. She retired after spending more than 45 years as a nurse and nursing home administrator. Lola became a caretaker and nurturer at the young age of 13. After her mother was burned, she took care of her younger siblings and continued caring for others throughout her life. Lola loved spending time with her family and friends; she cherished her family. She also, enjoyed reading and playing card games and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was a member of Tehuacana United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Hick Ferguson, Buddy Ferguson, Jim Ferguson, Phil Ray Ferguson and Pat Buyher.
Lola is survived by her high school sweetheart, Coley McPherson; children, Liz Vest and husband, Jeff, David Bates and wife, Dorothy, and Sheila Bates; stepchildren, J.D. and Tressie McPherson; grandchildren, Larry Bates, Jeffrey Vest and wife, Hayley, Cadelyn Bates; step-grandchildren, Devon and Andrew McPherson and Katie Golden; great-grandchildren, Grant and Ava Vest and Krece Bates; sister, Chelsia Taylor; brother, Cleve Ferguson; sisters-in-law, Beverly Ferguson, Aggie Ferguson and Joan Ferguson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
