OBITUARY:

Luella B. Randolph, daughter of Henry Randolph and Jane Muir, was born January 21, 1856, in Fayette county, Pa. When very young, she moved with her family to Fulton county, Ill. She graduated from the Canton, Ill. high school and taught school several terms.

April 6, 1876, she was united in marriage to William F. Mershon. They lived in Vermont, Ill., until 1884, when they came to Stafford, Kansas. To this union were born sic children: Rosa Lee Van Lehn, Dodge City; H. Dewey, Stafford; Roscoe C., Los Angeles, Calif.; Willie J. Pratt; Ruby Cantrall, Springfield, Ill.; and Ruth, Stafford.

Mr. and Mrs Mershon first founded a furniture store. They sold it in 1886 to Mr. S. E. Peacock, then they conducted a general merchandise store for over twenty years.

Mrs. Mershon's death followed an illness of four months from a broken hip. Her condiction became decidedly worse a few days ago and she was unable to survive. She was called to her heavenly home, July 10, 1935. She was a member of the Congregational church, having joined as a young girl at Canton, Ill. She always retained her membership in this church.

Her husband preceded her in death, August 24, 1913. She leaves her six children, two grand-daughters, eight grandsons, one sister, Mrs Mary R. Patterson, Bloomington, Nebr., one sister-in-law, Mrs Frances V. Montgomery, Springfield, Ill., and a brother-in-law, B.G Mershon, Vermont, Ill.

Funeral services were held at the home Saturday morning, July 13th, at nine o'clock, with Dr. R. L. George officiating. Interment in the Stafford Cemetery.

Relatives attending from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe C. Mershon, Los Angeles, Calif., Mr. and Mrs Leroy Van Lehn and son Randolph of Dodge City, Mr. B. G. Mershon, Vermont, Ill., Mrs. Ruby Cantrell, Springfield, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Van Lehn, New Orleans, La., Mr. Willie J. Mershon, Pratt, Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Mershon and Donald Mershon, Wichita.
