James N. Danielson, 73, of 1309 Fairmont Lane, Manitowoc, died Monday morning, Feb. 28, at Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Edmund Olson will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Danielson was born Aug. 30, 1909, at Manitowoc, son of the late Dan and Mary Peterik Danielson. He was educated in the Manitowoc Public School System and was graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1927. He married Ann Stanul Nov. 8, 1935.
Mr. Danielson was appointed to Manitowoc Fire Department July 1, 1933. He was promoted to lieutenant June 15, 1946, promoted to captain Aug. 15, 1948, and became chief of the fire department June 16, 1956, a position he held 18 years, until his retirement June 16, 1974. He was a member of Manitowoc Elks Lodge 687.
Survivors include his wife, Ann, a son and daughter-in-law, James and Pat Danielson of Appleton; two grandchildren, Scott and Susan Danielson; two brothers, John and Gretchen Danielson of Manitowoc and Paul and Ruth Danielson of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Donald Pemberton of Manitowoc and other relatives and friends, A brother, Dan Danielson and a sister, Marie Danielson preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Parkside Funeral Home from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service. There will be no Tuesday evening visitation. Memorials would be appreciated to the charity of the donor's choice.
