MARILYN HECKEL
Marilyn J. Heckel, age 81, of 3400 Yorkshire Lane, Manitowoc, died peacefully
surrounded by her loved ones Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 26, 2009, at Holy Family
Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
She was born June 22, 1928, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Henry and Mabel
(Freis) Herzog. Marilyn graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of
1946. On June 4, 1955, she married Frederick A. Heckel in Manitowoc. The couple
resided in Manitowoc and also Venice, Fla. Prior to her marriage, Marilyn was a
teller at the Manitowoc Savings Bank. While in Florida, Marilyn was a residential
coordinator at The Plantation Golf and Country Club. She was a former member of
the Manitowoc County Junior Service League, an active member of the Ladies Aid at
Grace Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Englewood,
Fla. She volunteered sharing her kindness and compassion for others at several
hospitals and nursing homes in Manitowoc and Venice, Fla.

She was preceded in death by a sister: Arline Olson and a brother: Clyde "Buddy"
Herzog.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at Bethany
Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the
Revs. Robert Kujawski and Stephen Melso. Marilyn will be laid to rest at Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc, at a later time.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church,
Manitowoc, from 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, until the time of service at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Bethany Lutheran Church or Autism
Speaks.
