Joseph F. Kattner, 68, of 1310 S. 20th St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday at Holy
Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where he was a patient nine and a half weeks.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at
10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. John S.
Landowski will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Kattner was born March 18, 1898, at Manitowoc, son of the late Paul Kattner
and Mrs. Martha Schipper Kattner. He married Meta K. Ziemer June 30, 1919, at
St. Mary church. He was a partner with his brother in Kattner Bros. Meat Market
for 15 years and owner of the Joseph Kattner Food Market from 1936 until 1951
when he retired. He also was owner-operator of the Pig and Cattle Farms of
Manitowoc County and a 25 year member of Eagles Aerie 706.
Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Chester (Dorothy) Dempsky, of
Manitowoc, Mrs. Clemens (LaaVerne) Hartlaub, of Newton and Mrs. Chester (Joan)
Gospodarek, of Mishicot, his mother, Mrs. Martha Kattner, of Manitwoc, three
sisters, Mrs. Joseph Schultz, of Two Rivers and Mrs. Elizabeth Holsen and Mrs.
Leo Lichtermann of Manitowoc, four brothers, Frank, Leo, John and Stanley, of
Manitowoc, 11 grandchildren and a great grandchild. A sister and a grandchild
preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Thursday where at 6 p.m. the
Eagles memorial service will be conducted and at 7 p.m. the Rosary will be
recited.
