Frances Moore Hawkins age 82 died February 2, 2011 at Duke Raleigh Hospital, Raleigh, N.C. She was born June 13, 1928 to Betty Lloyd and William Sanders Moore.
She was a native of Chapel Hill. Frances graduated high school from Pineland Junior College at Salemburg and from UNC Chapel Hill in 1949. There she met and married Jack Hawkins who preceded her in death in 1995. She left the indelible legacy of a life lived with high morals, respect for others, and was kind and humble. She had four children to whom she was completely devoted. She loved all animals and birds.
She is survived by daughters Beth Williams (Ed), Diane Tipton (Mark), Robin Dolan and son John Hawkins (Anne). She will also be missed by five grandchildren who were a source of happiness and pride for her: Lindsey Koury Esmaeili (Hoss), Michael Koury, Buck Williams, Rand Williams, and Michele Dolan. Also surviving are nieces Lynn Buckmaster, Ellen Buckmaster, Jane Middleton, Betsy McKenzie, brother-in-law William Hawldos and her cockatiels Cricket and Tweetie Bird and her best friend Brookshire Wynne McDonald.
In addition to her husband and parents she is preceded by her grandson Grant Koury, sister and brother-in-law Bob and Marion Buckmaster and sister-in-law Clio Hawkins.

Honoring Frances' wishes a memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, February 4 in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington St. Raleigh, N.C. Entombment will follow. Her family will receive friends immediately after the service in the Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SPCA of Wake County 200 Petfinder Lane, Raleigh, N.C.
