She met and was courted by her future husband, Michael "Miha" Ribnikar, while still in Slovenia. After Michael came to Chicago he continued to court her by mail. After she came to America they were married, in Chicago, on April 20, 1912 in St. Teresa's Church. They had two children; Marie and Michael.
