William H. Duncan, Prominent Scott Farmer, Dies

Manchester--William H. Duncan, retired farmer and highly respected resident of the Manchester community, died Monday at a hospital in Jacksonville. He was 86 years of age.
Mr. Duncam was born on Feb. 6, 1861, the son of William H. and Isabelle Lemon Duncan, pioneer residents of Morgan county. He spent his entire life in Morgan and Scott counties, residing for the past 49 years on the same farm.
He was married to Laura Greenwalt, who died on Jan. 8, 1928. Surviving are two children, Nellie and Russell, both of Manchester, and five grandchildren. He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Emma Elder of Springfield, Mrs. Ella McCarty of Roodhouse, and Mrs. Lucy Jantzen of Jacksonville. Two brothers, John and Francis Duncan, and a sister, Mrs. Louisa Blakeman, preceded him in death.
The body was taken to the Mackey Funeral Home in Roodhouse where services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Garfield Rodgers officiating. Burial will be in the Manchester cemetery.
