James Penister Jr., 69, of Pine Bluff, died April 2 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

He was born March 13, 1935, at Sherrill, a son of the late James Penister Sr. and Lula Bell Murphy Penister.

He was a machine operator for Bethlehem Steel Mill.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include three sons, Earl Penister and James Penister III, both of Pine Bluff, and Cory Penister of Chicago; two daughters, Bernadine Gipson of Pine Bluff and Sandra Ester of Washington; one brother, Solon Rice of Chicago; three sisters, Mae Tolbert of Sherrill and Marie McCray and Faye Lee, both of Pine Bluff; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff with the Rev. Alfredia Frazier officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Garden.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family will be at the home of Rose Nesby, 2607 Colonial Drive.
