Alma Adkins Moore, 81, of 624 Brooke Drive, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Danville Regional Medical Center. Born in Ringgold on March 12, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Edward Chestley Adkins and Laura Brown Adkins. On August 2, 1947 she married Jesse Lee Moore, who died on February 15, 2000.

She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and had worked for Danville Knitting Mill for a number of years. She was a member of the VFW 647 Auxiliary, the DAV Auxiliary, the Rebecca Lodge #80 the Roman Auxiliary and the Sheriff's Association.

She is survived by three sons, Thomas E. Moore and Michael D. Moore of Danville and Jesse L. Moore, II of Leesburg, NC.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Mary A. McCracken.

Graveside services for Mrs. Moore will be held Friday, June 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Danville Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Gilmore Hundley officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 18, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:30 at

Barker Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the home of Thomas E. Moore at 150 Sycamore Circle.

Barker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the Moore family.
