Edward A. Everitt was born in Virginia, USA in 1847 and came to Retlaw district with his wife, Ella from Ruthven Iowa in 1907. and was among the first settlers to homestead in this area. They had two sons, Eddie and Lee and three daughters who remained in the states. In 1924, he disposed of the farm and retired. Edward died in Medicine Hat on February 10, 1936, Ella died on November 26, 1917.

She married Edward Armstrong EVERITT 25 Oct 1873 in Chicago, Illinois. They had six children while living in Iowa, and moved to Retlaw, Alberta to join their oldest son, Eddie.
