Edward A. Everitt was born in Virginia, USA in 1847 and came to Retlaw district with his wife, Ella from Ruthven Iowa in 1907. and was among the first settlers to homestead in this area. He was by trade a boot maker. His site joined the town site on the southeast side SW 10-13-17) He served as trustee of the Retlaw Consolidated School from 1920-1923. They had two sons, Eddie and Lee and three daughters who remained in the states. In 1924, he disposed of the farm and retired. Edward died in Medicine Hat on February 10, 1936.
