IVAN TORRISON
Ivan C. Torrison, 79, of Valders, died Wednesday morning, April 26, 1989 at North Ridge Care Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church,k Valders. Rev. Carl Peters and Rev. Michael Hamilton will officiate with burial to follow at Our Saviors Cemetery, Valders.
Mr. Torrison was born October 31, 1909 at Valders, son of the late George and Christina Thompson Torrison. He attended Riverside school at Quarry and was a 1928 graduate of Valders High School. Mr. Torrison was a former proprietor of Ivan's bowl in Valders. he was also responsible for starting Nordic Land Trailer Park in Valders. He married the former Lila Ellestad on June 16, 1936 at Valders. She preceded him in death in 1973. He then married Gertrude Marshall on September 22, 1973 at Valders. in 1982, Mr. Torrison was inducted into Manitowoc County Bowling Hall of Fame. He was a member of Eagles Aerie Number 706, charter member of Lions Valders Club and was also very instrumental in establishing the Valders Village Park.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; a step daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Leland Krepline of rural Reedsville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Hartley and Lola Torrison of Sarasota, Florida; Sylvan and Monica Torrison of Valders; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and a grandson.
Friends may call at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders, 6 pm to 8 pm Friday and Saturday from 10 am until the hour of service at the church. Christianson-Deja Funeral Home, Valders is assisting the family.
