HARTLEY Q. TORRISON
Hartley Quintin Torrison, age 95, died Dec. 7, 2002 in Sarasota Fla.
Mr. Torrison, a native of Valders, was born on Aug. 18, 1907, son of the late George and Christina Torrison. He graduated from Valders High School in 1924 in the school's first graduating class. He was class president in a class of eight. After completing a year at Manitowoc County Normal School, he taught in a rural schoolhouse near Valders for several years.
During his work career he attained the position of Chairman of the board of Stanadyn Inc., serving the company for 36 years.
Hartley and Lola raised three sons, George, Robert and John in Chicago and Hartford areas. Hartley and Lola retired to Sarasota, Fla., in 1972. Hartley was a member of St. Armands Key Lutheran Church, Bird Key Yacht Club, Sons of Norway and was an active member of the Sarasota Power Sailors Squadron. He taught navigation for many years to other avid sailors.
He was preceded in death by Lola, his wife of 70 years, and his son, Robert, two sisters and brothers: Florence, Ada, Eugene, Norman, Sylvan, Ivan and Arnold.
Survivors include two sons: George of Lakewood, Colo.; and John of Westbrook, Conn.; six grandchildren: Scott, Jeff, and Aaron Torrison, Noel LaPlante, Gretchen Ritchie, and Sarah Aceto; 10 great-grandchildren: Jacob, Joshua, Jonah, Joseph, Holly, Luke, Benjamin, Katherine, Carlos and Piper.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002 at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders, with burial to follow at Our Savior Cemetery.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002 from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at 12:30 p.m.
The Christianson-Deja Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center is assisting the Torrison family with funeral arrangements.
