John Weippert, 76, pioneer resident of Robinson area, died Sunday, March 15 at a Bismarck hospital. He had been in failing health the past six years.
Mr. Weippert was born in Russia on Sept. 7, 1887, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Chris Weippert. He came to the United States with his parents in 1907 and the family homesteaded in the Harvey community. He was married to Lydia Aichele in Goodrich and in 1912 they moved to a farm south of Chaseley where they resided until 1918 when they moved to a farm 12 miles northeast of Robinson where the family has lived since. Mrs. Weippert died May 24, 1924. They were the parents of five children.
Mr. Weippert and Magdalena Rueb were married July 10, 1924 at Steele and have lived in Robinson since. Mr. Weippert served for many years on the Wallace township school board, and was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church at Robinson and a member of the church board.
Survivors include his wife, seven sons, Albert, Pueblo, Colo.; Reynold, Minot; Jonathon, Robinson; Eugene, Tappen; Wilbert, Carrington; Clarence, Barlow and Edward at home; eight daughters Mrs. Roy (Hilda) Rodacker, Chaseley; Mrs. Ervin (Lorraine) Gartner, Jamestown; Mrs. Rueben (Ruby) Aichele, Tuttle; Mrs. Lyle (Ellen) Thorsvig, Moorhead, Minn; Mrs. Ivan (Eldena) Weidrich, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Lawrence (Darlene) Pierce, Fargo; Judith and Linda Weippert at home; also two brothers, Peter Weippert, Hurdsfield, and Otto Weippert, Toppenish, Wash; 26 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by three sons, two daughters, one sister and two brothers. From The Steele Ozone-Press March 19, 1964.
