L.D. Armstrong and his son, L.W. Armstrong , brought a threshing machine and breaking outfit from North Dakota to the Caron, SK district. They filed on a homestead northwest of Caron in 1903. L.D. filed on the NE 1/4 and L.W. on the SE 1/4 of 2-21-1-W3.

Lew moved to the area with his family in the spring of 1904. A family friend, Dan Coleman filed on the SW 1/4 and Vern Armstrong on the N.W 1/4 of the same section. They brought horses and machinery from North Dakota and did breaking with a steam engine.

In 1905 Lew Armstrong's crop consisted of flax and oats. It was a good crop. On August 25th 1905 Mrs Lew Armstrong gave birth to Loretta, one of the first babies born on a homestead in the area. Mrs Fyckes was the nurse in attendance.

In 1923 Lew Armstrong returned to the USA.
