He was a machinist for 32 years with Sier Bath Gear Company, North Bergen. Pop served his country honorably in the US Army, was a life member of the NRA, and an avid fisherman. He was born in Jersey City.
Pop was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Jane Bedell, his brother, Rev. Robert Bedell, and 2 sisters, Muriel Ledestick and Carol Hartmann.
Surviving is wife, Mildred Schacht Bedell; 3 sons and 2 daughters in law, Albert and Veronica Bedell of Keansburg; Walter and Iris Schacht of Beachwood; and Andrew Schacht; 2 daughters and 2 sons in law, Jeanine and Gene Amato of Hazlet; Linda and Dennis Harrington of Little Silver; a sister, Ethel Whalen of Lyndenhurst, NY; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday February 5, from 5 pm until the time of the funeral service at 6:30 pm from the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave, on the corner of Third Ave, Long Branch.
