Funeral Services for Doris Broome Derrick, 89, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2010 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel with interment in Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at their home.
Mrs. Derrick was born October 31, 1920, in Columbia, S.C. and passed away on Friday, August 13, 2010. She was a daughter of the late John J. Broome and Lucille O. Carpenter Broome. Mrs. Derrick was a member of St. Andrews Baptist Church where she was a member of the Women's Missionary Union. She was a graduate of Columbia High School. Mrs. Derrick was a civil service employee at Fort Jackson in the Accounting Division.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie M. Derrick of Irmo; grandchildren, Vickie M. Townsend of Columbia and Todd W. Montgomery of Hendersonville, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Britney M. and Trevor A. Townsend of Columbia, Travis W., Matthew T. and Carleigh N. Montgomery of Abbeville and Madelyn I. and T.J. Montgomery of Hendersonville, N.C. She is also survived by a great-great-grandchild, Lincon Montgomery and sister, Barbara Hendrix of Cayce. She was predeceased by her husband Titus Derrick.
