Mike was born June 8, 1953, in Mandan, to John and Nellie (Nagel) Hoffman. He was raised and educated in Mandan, where he graduated from high school in 1971. He attended NDSU and BSC and earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science. On August 11, 1984, he married Jeanette Fidge in Bismarck. Mike worked in construction, for Burlington Northern Railroad as a bridge builder, as a real estate broker for Century 21, and for the last 15 years he has been a computer operator for the State of North Dakota in the Information Technology Department. Mike loved to build and fix things and was always willing to help a person in need with any sort of work that he could do. He spent his summers camping with his family, friends, and pets. Mike enjoyed swimming and all kinds of water sports. With his innate joy and love of laughter, he could always bring a smile to the faces of those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; two daughters, Michelle and Amber Hoffman, all of Bismarck; three sisters, Doris (Martin) Erhardt, Livingston, Montana, Jane (Dale) Voigt, Stanwood, Washington, and Marge (Dan) Feist, Mandan; one brother John (Tracy) Hoffman, St. Francis, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents.
