Lela "Lee" Unglesbee, 90, of Newton, passed away Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at Heritage Woods, Rockford.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, at Crain Funeral Home, Newton, with Brother Larry Matson officiating. Burial will be in Plainfield Cemetery, Rose Hill. Visitation will be held from noon until time of service, Sunday, at the funeral home.

Memorial gifts in honor of Lela may be made to Jasper County Senior Citizens' Center.

Lela was born on March 19, 1922, in Jasper County, the daughter of George E. and Nellie (Holmes) Addis.

In 1937, Lela married Clifford Ramey. To this union was born one son, Gordon Duane Ramey. Clifford preceded Lela in death in 1939. She later married Charles E. "Buck" Unglesbee, in 1948. He preceded her in death in 1982. During the war time years, Lela worked in a defense factory. Following the war, she was a homemaker, caring for her family. Her memberships included Central Christian Church, Newton, American Legion Auxiliary and Jasper County Senior Center, where she was an active volunteer. Lela loved her family, her friends and the Chicago Cubs. Lela will be loved and remembered by her grandchildren, Randy Ramey, wife, Sandy; Laurie Breit, husband, John; Doreen Dowdakin, husband, Rob; David Ramey and Steven Ramey; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and sister, Imogene Mahaffey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Clifford Ramey and Charles E. "Buck" Unglesbee; son, Gordon D. Ramey; great-grandson, Lt. Cpl. Branden Ramey; brothers, Roy, Max, Donnie and Dean Addis and sisters, Vera Addis and Eloise Kerner.
