Warren Riessen went home to his heavenly Father at the Sleepy Eye Care Center with his daughter Kay at his side.

He was born on the family farm near Walcott to Albert and Meta (Beckmann) Riessen during a horrible snowstorm. He was named for President Warren Harding who was inaugurated that day. After graduating from Davenport [Central] High School in 1938, he entered the U.S. Air Force and served as a B17 engine mechanic in England during WWII.

On Oct 3, 1948 he married Alice Niebuhr at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Davenport. He owned and operated Riessen's Standard Oil Gas Station for 30 years. He sold the business when the I-80 truck port opened and sold automobiles for Schwind-Boeker and later Johnny Lujack in Davenport until his 1986 retirement. He enjoyed traveling to Walker, Minnesota, to visit his daughter, and grandchildren and caught and ate numerous walleye.
