Frank worked for Pure Oil in Charleston WV then was boiler operator for Marietta High School, according to his nephew Richard Smith. Frank was single and lived first with his parents and then brother Edward. Frank died before his room mate Edward married.

The 1930 census shows Frank and Edward living together in Harmar. They lived on 'Fort Street" that is today's Gilman Avenue near Leland Avenue.
