Myron was killed in Italy with his original company, the 135th from Hutchsinson, MN.

"He was killed in late October, presumably on the 28, 1943. On October 30, 1944 Col. Harry J. Keeley came out from Fort Snelling, to personally present Mr. John Carrigan with the Legion of Merit posthumously awarded his son." #2012-0001-193 (Box in archives) at McLeod County Historical Society.
