A1C US Air Force

He was a tactical air command and control specialist assigned out of the 14th Air Support Operation Squadron, Pope Air Force Base, NC.

He grew up in Del Rio, TX, and attended high school in Tucson. After earning his GED, he worked for a couple of years with the elderly, and also volunteered with youth groups and for neighborhood cleanup efforts. He received an award from the FBI and the League of United Latin American Citizens for his community service. In November 2001, he joined the Air Force and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2003. He died of wounds received while on patrol after snipers ambushed his unit; his quick action in calling in air support helped his men repel their attackers, and was mortally wounded defending his team. He was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor and a Purple Heart posthumously.

He was survived by his parents, Robert Losano Sr and Oralia Losano; his wife of almost 3 years; one daughter and an expected daughter; a brother; and a sister.

Interment on May 14, 2003.
