Effie Josephine Berry, daughter of Sterling and Sarah Jane Berry, was born December 24, 1875, in Cole County, MO., and passed away March 16, 1937.
She was married to Arthur John Miller Dec. 24, 1891. To this union were born five children. One son, Byron, died at the age of 18 months.
Those surviving with their father are: Mrs. Sumpter E. Gunn, Eldon, Mo.; Mrs. John L. Hostetter, Fort Lyon, Colo.; Mrs. Paul C. Thomas, Fort Lyon, Coo.; John Lewis Miller, Adair, Okla.; nine grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
In 1906, Mrs. Miller united with the First Baptist Church of Eldon, and in 1929 her membership was transferred to the First Baptist Church of Mishawaka, Ind., where she was then living.
In Mishawaka she was an active member of the W.B.A., and in Eldon a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
Mrs. Miller's sterling qualities combined to make her a woman of rare personality. In her home she created an atmosphere of tender devotion to husband and children. To her friends she was loyal and true. Her beautiful characteristics were generously expressed to her neighbors.
She was ever faithful to her church. Through all the vicissitudes of life, her belief in her Saviour was firm and unshaken. The passing away of this noble woman will be deeply felt, but her influence will live forever.
The funeral was held at the First Baptist Church Friday afternoon by the Rev. D.W. Jones and burial was made at Eldon Cemetery.
