DUANE BLODGETT

Duane Blodgett, the oldest son of the late Miles Blodgett, was found dead in the Arizona desert near Yuma.

Mr. Blodgett at one time lived in the home now occupied by his stepmother, Mrs. L.K. Blodgett, across from the High School in Lacona. At the time he ran the tannery, then located on the flats, north of the woodworking plant now owned by F.A. Montanye. The Blodgett family previously resided in the Stevens neighborhood where the father, Miles
Blodgett, reared a large family and early became one of the leading business factors of the town of Sandy Creek. Beside the tannery interests he owned large timber tracts in Boylston. Mrs. Ellen M. Porter, of Compton, Cal., and William Blodgett of Oswego are sister and brother of the deceased.

His faithful burros were patiently waiting for their master when he was discovered. For many years he had been a prospectorV in Arizona and had often expressed the wish to be buried near his field of labor.

Burial was made at Yuma, in accordance with his request.

He had always lived a pioneer's life. In his early days his father performed every process involved in tanning from felling the tree to teaming the finished product to the railroad; so that he was fitted from boyhood for the rough life of a prospector which he followed for years.
