Victor J. Ceaglske, age 87, of 1217 S. 25th St., Manitowoc, entered into eternal rest on Thursday evening, June 26, 2003, at his residence with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Thomas Wojciechowski, OFM, with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.

Victor was born July 8, 1915, in Maribel, son of the late Gustave W. and Mary A. Reedy Ceaglske. He grew up in Manitowoc, attending St. Boniface Parochial School and graduated with the class of 1933 from Lincoln High School. Victor married Dolores M. Osesek on Nov. 18, 1939 by Monsignor John Landowski at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The couple celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1989. She preceded him in death on April 3, 1992. Victor was employed at the White House Milk Company and was purchasing agent for Kaufman Manufacturing Company for most of his life, retiring in 1980. He enlisted with the United States Army during World War II and was honorably discharged on March 22, 1946, receiving the American Theater Service Medal. He was a member of St. Mary Parish since 1939.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Carol M. and Richard W. (Dick) Swetlik, Manitowoc, and Bette L. and Richard G. (Sam) Messman, Two Rivers; one daughter-in-law, Kaye A. Ceaglske and her fiancee, James Schultz, Two Rivers, seven grandchildren: Steven Swetlik, Milwaukee, Deana Swetlik, Denver, Colo., and Andrew Swetlik, Kenosha, Kent and Renee Messman, Two Rivers, Kurt and Tina Messman, Manitowoc, Kim and Jason Kracht, Manitowoc, John J. Ceaglske, Milwaukee, one great-grandchild, Alec Messman, Manitowoc. Victor will be especially missed by his special and devoted best friend, his faithful dog, Bandit. Also surviving are two sisters: Grace Shimek, Manitowoc, and Marie Beatty, Manitowoc; three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Irene and Ted Becker, Manitowoc, Lucille Koch, Two Rivers, and Susan Vogel, Manitowoc. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

Victor was also preceded in death by a son, Jerold J. Ceaglske on May 25, 2001, and an infant son, James J. Ceaglske; his parents and stepfather, Fred Lippert, granddaughter, Paula J. Swetlik, a grandson, Kris D. Messman, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Pauline Osesek, brothers-in-law, Edwin and Florian Osesek, Elmer Koch and Robert Vogel.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc, from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service at 11 a.m.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
