Gladys Mirie Meek, longtime Ponca City resident, died Friday, December 26, 2003 at Shawn Manor. She was 92.

A funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Monday, December 29, 2003 at Second Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul Graham officiating, assisted by the Rev. Ken Newport, pastor. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of the Trout Funeral Home.

Gladys was born in Tulsa on July 16, 1911 to Jesse and Ella Dreisel. She attended schools in Red Rock and Ponca City. On May 13, 1929, Gladys married Jay Doolin Meek in Winfield, Kansas. Gladys worked for Mid American Company and then for many years as a baker at Tasty Bakery and Hopkins Bakery. She attended Second Baptist Church for over thirty years.

She is survived by four sons, Lawrence Meek, Jay Dee Meek, Bill Meek and Jim Meek, all of Ponca City; 8 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on December 31, 1980, her parents, one daughter, two sisters and five brothers.

Casketbearers will be Dewey Crain, R. C. Whiting, A. J. Altman, Jose Cervantes, Joe Hill and Dennis Wiseman.
