Louis Sharland, a retired carpenter, died yesterday (Aug. 16) at the home of his daughter, 40 Monty St. He was 73 years of age. Funeral services will be conducted at Our Lady of Victory Church on Wednesday morning.

Mr. Sharland is survived by four daughters, Mrs. E. L. Beaird of Iron Hill, P.Q., Mrs. Arthur Dubuque and Mrs. Delbert Payette of Plattsburgh, Mrs. Bert Henry of Nerbana, Ohio; four sons, Louis of California, Alex of Ogdensburg, Charles of New York and Sgt. Geo. Sharland of Plattsburgh Barracks; three brothers, Alphonse of St. Albans, Vt., Fred of Au Sable Forks and Andrew of Burlington.

The funeral of the late Louis Sharland who passed away at his daughter's home, 40 Monty street, Saturday was held from Our Lady of Victory church at 9 o'clock yesterday morning. Rev. Father J. H. Bachand celebrated the mass of requiem.

The esteem in which the late Mr. Sharland was held was shown by the large number of relatives and friends who filled the sacred edifice to attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass,and offer up their prayers for the repose of his soul. The casket was tenderly borne to its last resting place in St. Peter's cemetery by George Raby, Joseph Cameron, Louis Reed, Alex Reed, Peter Currier and John Bafpfurd (sic). Among the out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the funeral services were Mrs. Ellen Beard of Iron Hill, Que., Charles Sharland of New York City, Andrew and Fred Sharland of Burlington, Vt., and Alfonso Sharland of St. Albans, Vt.

Two residents appeared before the court Surrogate and filed petitions before Judge Harring's Court yesterday, seeking to be appointed administrators of the estate of residents of this county who died within the last year. The first petition was filed by Mrs. Belle Dubuque of this city. She seeks to be declared administratrix of the estate of her father, Louis Sharland who died August 15th. According to the petition, his estate is valued at $300.

My Great Grandfather Louis was born in Keeseville, NY, the son of Abraham Charland aka Sharland on 16 June 1853. He died on 15 Aug 1926 at his daughter Annabelle's home at 40 Monty Street. In his illness he had been staying a few months with each of his children. His mother was Helene Derome-Descarreaux.

He was predeceased by his wife, Celia Jette aka Stay in 1911, his father and mother, his brothers Marin Noe, Andre, Charles, and a sister Marie Louise. His grandparents also predeceased him. Also, grandchildren Ruth Lillian and Ralph Harry Fayette, Frances Harriet and Louis Floyd Sharland and Elena Dubuque.

Census shows him living the area called "the flat" which is where his daughter, Rose, lived. He was a painter-carpenter.

He left behind seven children Rose E. Sharland b 31 Jan 1883 in Port Henry, d 15 June 1971 in Plattsburgh, NY. She m Delbert Daniel Fayette on 22 Nov 1906. Delbert died in 1942.

Charles Joseph Sharland b 24 Nov 1892 in Port Henry, d June 1972 in Ogdensburg, NY buried in Plattsburgh.

He married Elizabeth O'Donnell who predeceased him in 1940.

George Edward Sharland was born 26 June 1886 in Port Henry and died on 1 Apr 1933. He married Jessie Sancomb daughter of Frank Sancomb and Harriet Fayette.

Lillian Sharland, born 17 May 1885. Died 22 Mar 1958 in Ogdensburg. Married Bert Henry.

Alexander Sharland, born 9 Oct 1880 in Willsboro, NY and died 27 June 1952 in Ogdensburg. He married Elzire Morrisette.

Annabelle Sharland born 25 June 1879, d 27 Oct 1959, Plattsburgh. Married 1) Rickert, 2) Arthur Dubuque.
