DUBOIS - J. Maurice Barrett, 91, of Treasure Lake, DuBois and formerly of Curwensville died Friday, April 16, 2010 at DuBois Regional Medical Center West.
Born Dec. 11, 1918 at Faunce, he was a son of the late Ai and Ethel M. (Merrell) Barrett.
Mr. Barrett was the co-owner of Barrett Tire Service, Curwensville for many years.
He was a member of Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Curwensville, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, treasurer and as a church elder.
On Dec. 25, 1939 at the Curwensville Christian and Missionary Alliance Parsonage he married Esther R. Lippert, who preceded him in death Feb. 15, 2003.
He is survived by three children, Ruth Wohlberg of Treasure Lake, A. LaRue Mullins and husband the Rev. William Mullins of Northern Cambria, David Barrett and his wife Charlotte of Duncannon, 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandsons, two sisters and two brothers, Edith David of Indialantic Beach, Fla., Clara Wise of Fullerton, Calif., Russell Ardell Barrett and Duane Barrett of Livingston, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one grandchild and three brothers, Jack, Merrell and Harry Barrett.
Funeral services will be held at the Curwensville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church on Tuesday, April 20, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen D. Shields and Pastor Timothy Connor officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Monday, April 19, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of services.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Great Commission Mission Fund, 725 Susquehanna Ave., Curwensville PA, 16833 and/or 1004 South Main Street, DuBois, PA 15801.
