Son of Warren Chase and Rhoda (Fox) Chase

"Elmer Chase died at his home on River street, Otego, at about 1:30 o'clock Friday morning of last week of muscular heart trouble. He had been ailing since last September but had continued at his duties as D. & H. agent at this station until a short time before his death. The deceased was born in the town of Milford, March 11, 1858, the son of Warren and Rhoda Chase of Westford. He was twice married, his first wife being Celia Woodbeck of Colliers, who died in 1918. His second wife was Mrs. Flora Rathbun Harris, to whom he was married July 10, 1926, who survives him with two brothers, Luzern of New York city, and Burdell, of Middletown, a sister, Mrs. Jennie Benedict, of Worcester, and a niece, Mrs. Wesley Durland, of Monticello. Mr. Chase was forty-five years in the service of the D. & H. company as telegraph operator and station agent, twenty-three years of which he served in Otego . . . burial followed at Riverside cemetery, Oneonta.
