She was born Sept. 26, 1866 at Valders, Norway the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Engelbrecht Johnson, nee Ella Johnson. She came to this country with her parents and settled here in 1873. She was married on June 27, 1893 at Reedsville to William F. Schwanke.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church at Rantoul. Her husband preceded her in death several years ago.
She is survived by three sons, Otto of town Newton, Walter of Chilton and Elmer on the homestead; one daughter; Mrs. Elnor Wenzel of Potter; a brother, Erick of Cumberland, Wis., and five grandchildren.
The funeral was held Wednesday from the Luecker Funeral Home and the Trinity Lutheran church at Rantoul. The Rev. F. G. Barthel officiated. Burial was in the Brillion cemetery.
