Pauline Vernice Pelt, age 88 of Dardanelle, died Monday, April 30, 2007 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.

She was born March 19, 1919 at Rover to the late Thomas Steele and Carley Green Cathey. She was a Freewill Baptist in faith and was saved around the age of 25.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Garland Pelt; brothers and sisters, Bonnie Reese, Lee Tyler, Virgie Cochran, Hays Cathey, Milburn Cathey, Zerline Williams Cathey, Thomas Wayne Cathey and Raymond Cathey; and son-in-law, Howard James Race.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Gayle Pelt of Dardanelle, Tommy and Marlene Pelt of Roland, OK; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sue and Everett Jarnagin of Independence, MO, Jo Ann Race of Dardanelle; brother, Willious Cathey; ten grandchildren, Kelly Balloun, Kevin Pelt, Monica Rempe, Marcia Richards, Kendra Wray, Ronnie Pelt, Jason Pelt, Craig Race, Lance Race, Melinda Steer; step granddaughter, Shelly Branch; twenty great grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; special caregivers, Ruth Prochazka and Winona Talley of Dardanelle.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 3, 2007 at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Rev. David Bishop officiating. Interment was in New Bethel Cemetery in Plainview.

Pallbearers were Terry Dunn, Bruce Dunn, Jerry Pelt, Steve Balloun, George Goodwin, and Bill Pitts. Honorary pallbearers were Roland Evans, Paul Henry Evans, and Jimmy Pelt. Arrangements made by Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle.
