Uncle Thomas Gerraghty literally had, a wooden leg. Having been injured in a battle in France during the First World War. He married a woman named Catherine and lived in or near Akron, Ohio. He used to say " Norma (my Mother) would wear out my wooden leg in a week" Tall as an oak with a jolly deep voice, Tom was usually the life of any gathering. It is known his wife Catherine died young of Lung Cancer leaving Tom to raise their 4 Children alone. In 1965 Tom made a pilgrimage back to Chester, England the former home of his Dad, John E. Gerraghty, to meet his kin and hopefully see the home his Dad was raised in. However by the time Tom arrived the home had been raised.
