Gainesboro - Lina Jane Garrett, age 92, died Friday, February 13, 2009 at CR.M.C.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 17, at 2:00 p.m. at Memphis Memory Gardens, Memphis, TN.

She was born November 2, 1916 in Blytheville, ARK to the last Stanley Stratton and Olive Edwards Stratton. Ms. Garrett was a Veteran of WWII, serving in Africa, Italy, France and Germany. She honorably served at Army Nurse Corps from February 16, 1941 to March 16, 1946. She was awarded the Bronze Star and was honorably discharged as a Captain.

She was a member of the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Her family includes two sons, Walter Garrett of Waverly, TN and Mike and his wife Lee Garrett of Gainesboro, TN; one daughter, Celeste Evans of Waverly, TN; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter P. Garrett, one son, James Garrett, two grandchildren, Candace Floyd, Jimmy Garrett, one brother Jimmy D. Stratton.
